Cultural differences

The thing that really got my attention was chapter four and it's idea of eliminating teacher bias. It then states that by doing this we increase awareness and eliminate prejudice and stereotypes. I think this whole idea of teaching in 4800 has made it apparent that when we begin teaching, this idea of awareness will be one of the factors that gives us have the capability to self proclaim ourselves as teachers. By becoming educated in stereotypes and prejudices, we are making sure that we teach fairly and in a just manner.

The other aspect I liked was the idea of cultural diversity. The sooner we begin to realize that this whole world is not based of the white man's ideas, the sooner we can become better teachers. The article also states that 40% of the teachers will be working with non English speakers, and the numbers will only rise as the years progress. By being aware of this fact, we can uphold our responsibility to teach better and more effectively.
